Nativity of Mary Marian Prayers St. Monica St. Bernadette St. Francis St. Clare St. Dominic St. Agnes St. Sebastian Angels

Guardian Angel

Lord, keep us safe this night,

Secure from all our fears;

May angels guard us while we sleep,

Til morning light appears.

GUARDIAN ANGEL
PRAYERS

"Angel of God,
my guardian dear,
to whom God's love
commits me here;
Ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard,
to rule and guide.
Amen"

"O Angels of God,
from heaven so bright,
watching beside my children
to lead them aright;
fold your wings round them,
and guard them with love;
Softly sing songs to them
of heaven above.
Amen."

ANGELS

Angels are pure spirits and personal beings with intelligences and free will. They are immortal beings. As Sacred Scripture attests, they appear to humans as apparitions with a human form.

God created the angels before the rest of creation. Angels see, praise, and worship God in His divine presence. Passages in the bible indicate that each of us has a guardian angel.

Throughout Sacred Scripture, the angels served as messengers of God, whether delivering an actual message of God's plan of salvation, rendering justice, or providing strength and comfort.

ARCHANGELS

Archangels are called such because of
their important roles in God's plan.
There are 3 identified in Sacred
Scripture by name. They are Saints
Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel:

St. Michael The name Michael means, "Who is like to God?".  He led the army of angels
who cast Satan and the rebellious angels
into hell.  He has been especially honored and invoked as patron and protector by the Church from the time of the Apostles. Although he is always called "the Archangel," the Greek Fathers and many others place him over all the angels - as Prince of the Seraphim. At the end of time, Michael will weild the sword of justice to separate the righteous from the evil.
(Rev 12:7-9)

St. Gabriel, whose name means
"man of God," or "God has shown himself mighty", announced to Daniel the prophecy of the seventy weeks. ( Dan. 9:21-27)  He was the angel who appeared to Zachariah to announce the birth of St. John the Baptizer. (Luke 1:13)  Finally, he announced to Mary that she would bear a Son Who would be conceived of the Holy Spirit, Son of the Most High, and Saviour of the world.

Quotation from Reverand Billy Graham:

"I am convinced that angels exist and that they provide unseen aide in our behalf. I do not believe in angels because someone has told me about a dramatic visitation from an angel, impressive as such rare testimonies may be. I do not believe in angels because UFO's are astonishingly angel-like in some of their reported appearances. I do not believe in angels because ESP experts are making the realm of the spirit world seem more and more plausible. I do not believe in angels because of the sudden worldwide emphasis on the reality of Satan and spiritual work among demons. I do not believe in angels because I've ever seen one. Because I haven't. I believe in angels because the Bible says there are angels and I believe the Bible to be the true Word of God."
